The Secondary Vocational School

The Secondary Vocational School /SVS/ in Svit has written its history since 01/07/2005. It originated as a complex by joining of 3 secondary schools in Svit - of the Secondary Vocational School of M. C. Sklodowska and of 2 educational establishments oriented in textiles and chemistry. Nowadays it offers several branches of study to the students: with orientation in biology and chemistry, economics and IT, outfitter´s, polygraphy and electrotechnics. All branches of study have the international certificate - "International Education Society, London /IES/". Students of the school have a possibility to get the international certificate IES.
The SVS is situated in the eastern part of Slovakia, in the region which offers education epecially to the students living in the country. A great majority of students come from socially and economically weaker families. Completion of the vocational education is a necessity for majority of them - for getting a working place and for their assertion in life.
The SVS struggles to provide quality education for its students, connected with international contacts, reciprocal stays and excursions. The school is also interested in a wider cooperation with other countries of Europe at short- or long-lasting projects with various thematical specializations. Till now, the school has been very successful in the number of coordinating partners and approved projects within the framework of the Prešov region. In the school year 2012 - 2013 students begun to be engaged in the topic of the European Union, its status, tasks and visions in the future. They dealed with the problem of climatic changes in the frame of the Climatical Day in which all students and teachers were involved.
In the newly prepared project Comenius - school partnerships, the SVS in Svit became a coordinator school of partnership and a proposer of the contental concentration of the project. During the preparatory meeting of potential partners in Germany, the vision of the new project has got a more real base. The school will actively share in the filling of all tasks and aims of the project and it will take over the task of the coordinator and initiator of the partnership also in the future.
