About Us

Comenius is a project created by 5 schools from 5 countries who are trying to fight against social problems together and show us that differences unite us!

The Nobel Prize of Peace in 2012 for the European Union, Sacharov Prize and protection of human rights, awarding of the prize Lux 2012 for the film "I am Li" as an award for the fight for equality and tolerance, the idea of the active citizenship, the effort for solving of European crisis by the budgetary discipline and by solidarity of countries, enforcing of ideas of inter-cultural dialogue with the aim to strengthen the respect for cultural variety and to support the coexistence of various cultures and religions; all these being victories implemented and realised for Europe.
If we want to be inspired by the European Union and to keep up with it, if we want to coexist as cultures and to build together a more beautiful Earth, if we want to deserve the Nobel Prize of Peace, we have to learn to communicate as people and to respect each other's uniqueness.
Our project is an attempt to put into action the ideas of mutual communication about values of life. It is an attempt to address students and teachers, brought up and indoctrinated with different historic facts, representing different cultures and nations and declaring different values. It is an attempt to establish a dialogue which is not able to be realized without serious and conscious partners -  Cyprus, Lithuania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic or Turkey. It is an attempt to show students how difficult communication, finding compromises and positive moods can be, how difficult it is sometimes to fight for our rights.
We are optimists and believe that the investigation of such serious topics improve awareness of each other’s uniqueness, pride to traditions and willingness to know others, their values and opinions. We believe that this interaction brought results which the European Parliament aimed for, when it appreciates each individual or a group which fights for us all!
We highly respect the ideas which have joined our partnership and we will be proud to revive our ideas and to be active citizens at the birth of new Europe.
Prejudices, historic biases, lack of knowledge, indoctrination, dogmatic education were just few of the barriers met. The fear of people about the unknown or misconceptions for anything outside the norm and reluctance to accept new ideas and changes hindered the work. However, the determination of the young participants in each partner school, the support and motivation of their teachers and encouragement from family members or peers, was the driving force to work and produce. These served catalytically for more young students to engage in this venture and study, investigate, learn and acquire valuable experiences and skills. Over and above of their busy schedule, they offer the maximum of themselves to successfully complete the tasks set and reach the goals of the partnership.
Two years after the commencement of the project, the hard work of over 150 students and teachers can now claim its fruits. Students and teachers in each partner country had to overcome mental obstacles set by their peers or even in some cases family members. They proved however that cooperation is a necessity. Cooperation not only among peers of the same school, but extending beyond the country's frontiers. They showed that working by themselves they can achieve some. By collaborating with others, in this case the partner schools, they achieve many. As the Japanese writer Ryunosuke Satoro said, "Individually, we are one drop. Together we are an ocean".
Two years later, the partnership rooted the seeds of tolerance, acceptance and respect. The "lesson" of cooperation and teamwork was a successful one. The communication and cooperation continues among the participants and all look forward for a future venture together. Cooperation at the European level can bring down prejudices or even animosity and give rise to understanding and acceptance. Their wish is for others, especially for nations, to realise that tolerance and cooperation can only bring progress.
